Next Wednesday, Feb 24th we are presenting the official listening party for Planet Asia & Gold Chain Military's brand new album, Chain Of Command. The listening party is from 7 to 9 and will feature gift bags and giveaways from Akomplice, Bloodbath, and Pros & Cons.
The after party is presented by Freedom of Beats, and will feature guest DJ's Battle Cat and Crazy Toones.

He combines his humming bird icons, beautiful muses, Mesoamerican iconography, along with wild style depiction of words and letters over an abstract background with that of his urban graffiti palette (since 1989), so to think he is merely painting pictures, would be a mistake. Ruets
Known for his linear formation and contemporary letter structure, Los Angeles based artist Tommy Ruets earned himself a nationwide following due to his stylistically innovative approach. Pushing the boundaries of traditional graffiti, Ruets continues to up the ante combining a distinct configuration of line and proportion into something undeniably original. Equally visually stimulating are his hundreds works on paper and wood, Comprised of bold flat color and fine-line work.

TRADITION PRESENTS: MEAR & YEM :CRITICAL: NOVEMBER 7TH

Tradition is proud to present :Critical: a 2 person art show featuring the artwork of Mear and Yem, two of LA's most prolific graffiti writers. :Critical: examines the nature of these two legendary graffiti writers and their approach to fine art.

MEAR ONE: examines the aspects of content that accompany any piece of art. He is literally working on communicating some of what we as a society have forgotten or are unable to see.

YEM: navigates through a multi-media platform where information (data) and art intersect. The result is a visual experiment that tests the icons of the culture industry. His work involves a participation in which Theodor Adorno claims that it goes under the name of terror in mass culture. He is a pioneer of the Los Angeles graffiti/urban art movement and has shown through out the US and Europe. He is self taught.

:Critical: opens November 7th, and runs through January 2nd.
Opening Reception is November 7th from 7-11. Drinks and music provided.

Tradition and Revelation Records are proud to present the book release party for Burning Fight: The Nineties Hardcore Revolution in Ethics, Politics, Spirit, and Sound . Nineties hardcore sparked profound change and debate across musical, social, spiritual, and political landscapes, andBurning Fight draws upon the memories of many who played influential roles in the scene and understand what made this era of hardcore so unique.
This event will feature a Q&A with the author, Brian Peterson, along with Mike Hartsfield (Outspoken), Dave McClure (Downcast), Ryan Downey (Burn It Down), Vique Martin (Simba Fanzine), and more. There will be an artshow featuring a collection of photos, flyers. T-shirts, and more as well as guest DJ's spinning 90's hardcore all night.
There will also be a limited edition Burning Fight X Tradition X Revelation Records T-shirt release!

The long awaited Soul Assassins album, "Intermission", drops next week and Tradition is proud to host the official listening and album release party on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00. The album features Bun B, Fashawn, Evidence, Xzibit, and more. DJ Muggs from the legendary Cypress Hill will be on hand mixing up a set of tracks from the "Intermission" album. Up and coming Fresno based MC, Fashwan, is set to perform as well as some unannounced guests from the Soul Assassins family. With DJ Muggs in the house you never know who is gonna get on stage and spit!

Trevor Traynor was born in New York in May of 1979. He studied at the University of Colorado in Boulder and after graduating in 2002 he explored the globe with a Hasselblad. For the next four years Trevor continued to create projects through his travels while doing editorial work in New York and several Art Fairs with Rx gallery in San Francisco. He currently lives and works in San Francisco and New York.

Traynor’s photographs have been exhibited in Medellin, Paris, Santa Fe, New York, San Diego, Denver, and San Francisco. His work has been featured in many publications including: Chicago Tribune, New York magazine, Men’s Fitness, SF Guardian, URB magazine, Merge magazine (Sweden), Lodown magazine (Germany), and Kerb Journal (Australia). His work is part of several collections; including Swinerton and Pfizer. He has also been recognized in competitions; including “industrial photographer of the year” at the 1st International Photography Awards, & Honorable mention at the International Adobe Photoshop competition.

I Shoot People opens June 20th at Tradition, and will feature over 200 photographs!

We told you we had some tricks up our sleeve for our event on February 7th, and we weren't lying... Tradition and Soul Assassins present The Takeover. We enlisted the entire SA family for this event, and we will have DJ sets from DJ Muggs and Mr. Choc, as well as performances from Sick Jacken (Psycho Realm), Self Scientific, Strong Arm Steady, Young De, as well as some very special guests. We will also be releasing our limited edition Soul Assassins collaboration tee, hosting a Soul Assassins pop-up shop, and having the opening reception of Chase Tafoya's "Face 2 Face" artshow. This event happens to coincide with our 2 year anniversary as well, so expect some big things and some surprises!
