By now you should all be aware of the upcoming artshow we are having with Eyeone and Patrick Martinez at Tradition on March 21st. Here is a sneak peek of a very limited edition 'zine those two have put together for the opening of the show.
Old Works by Eyeone & Patrick Martinez 7.5" x 5" | 32 pages | saddle-stitched Photocopied on assorted color stock Hand-assembled | limited to 100 copies
We've posted some stuff from Aaron Mcgruder and the creative teaam behind The Boondocks before. Here is another classic skit poking fun at the numerous videos online showing freestyle battles that turn physical. Watch as "Tubesteak gets Chris Brown'd!" Hahaha!
Interview magazine sat down with James Jebbia, the founder of Supreme, to talk about the recession, inspiration, and direction of the brand. You can read the informative interview here.
"We’ve never really been supply-demand anyway. It’s not like when we’re making something, we make only six of them. But if we can sell 600, I make 400. We’ve always been like that—at least for the past seven or eight years. For every season, we put in a lot of work to try to create exciting stuff."
Former Mr. Madonna and "Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels" director, Guy Ritchie, just directed this 3 minute commercial/mini movie for Nike. This short focuses on Nike's football (soccer) campaign.
The Boston Celtics signed Stephon Marbury today after the guard cleared waivers, and the club hoped to have the New York Knicks castoff in uniform for tonight's game against the Indiana Pacers. Marbury, a former All-Star guard who alienated Knicks management, teammates and fans, was signed after having his physical at the Celtics' suburban practice facility early today. He agreed to a buyout of his $20.8 million contract and was waived by New York on Tuesday. The Celtics were expected to sign him for a prorated share of the veteran's $1.3 million minimum. Marbury, who turned 32 last week, hasn't played a regular-season game in more than a year. He will wear No. 8, formerly worn by Celtics star Antoine Walker.
Everyone knows how big of a Weezy fan I am but I have to say that I'm not supporting this wack Rock shit he's trying to do! He needs to do HIM, he's not a rockstar..
You may not know Clippers point guard Mike Taylor but you can't front on his boosts! I have seen this guy up close, he's about 6"1 only! This is incredible for a guy his size!
The São Paulo exhibition celebrates the energy of the emerging art culture in São Paulo, Brazil, the biggest metropolitan city in South America.
Calma, Carlos Dias, MZK, Ramon Martins, Silvana Mello, Speto, Titi Freak and Zezão form a group that translates this energy best, bringing fine art unique influences from pop-culture, ancient heritage, modern painting or folk art. Each artist uses pop contemporary references such as street art, tattoo, skateboarding, hip-hop, and punk, while paying close attention to their own personal heritage and research. The São Paulo show promises an intriguing exhibition.
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 28, 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Free Valet Parking & Open Bar

As you you T.I. copped a plea deal and has to serve a year in prison as well as three years of supervised release including a year of home detention, a total of 15-hundred hours of community service, and 100-thousand-dollar fine. T.I. is really hitting the streets hard right now. Check out his new mixtape "Gone Till November." If your a T.I. fan you're gonna love it, you can download it here.
Damm... Cam is back on his grind! Peep his brand new video for the track "Get it in Ohio." With Jim Jones getting all the shine lately, I'm curious to see what Killa has up his sleeve for '09.
Pacific Division is making moves for all the folks on the West Coast. With "Mayor" getting steady rotation on Power 106, Pacific Division are gearing up to take it to the next level. "Pac Div" is a new cut off of their upcoming Church league Champions mixtape. This track definitely has the throwback feel of some classics from the early '90's.
Celebrity skateboarder, Rob Dyrdek, just opened a brand new skate plaza in Los Angeles. The plaza is called Lafayette Park Safe Spot, and it is over 7,000 sq. feet of ledges, rails, and flat ground. It's good to see a guy like Rob giving back to the skateboarding community.
625 South Lafayette Park Place Los Angeles, CA 90057
The homey, Eric Thompson AKA Quentin Tangarino, just shot the newest video for Tiron and Ayomari for the track "3 Drink Minimum." Thanks for showing Tradition some love in the video. Tiron's newest mixtape, Ketchup, dropped today.
Lots of dope plays, my favorites have to be #7 when AJ Price crosses dude up, stares at him after he falls and still hits the jumper! I love #3 too, Gerald Henderson of Duke has springs for legs. Enjoy!
VIMBY & UP ON THINGZ PRESENT: THE NEW CLASSICS MIXTAPE
Vimby & Up On Thingz just dropped "The New Classics" mixtape featuring Pacific Division, U-N-I, Sean Price, Fashawn and many more. The mixtape is hosted by Peter Rosenberg and the majority of the production is by Cook Classic... I produced a bonus track on there called "Obsessed" featuring Young De and Ca$his (Someone needs to steps their credit game up!). You can download "The New Classics" mixtape here.
Looks like Jay-z's protege Memphis Bleek has come out of hiding and is trying to get his name on the streets again! Here's his new mixtape Feed The Streets, Hosted by DJ Envy.
Clippers just got the biggest win of the year tonight! Zack Randolph had 30 points,12 boards in the Clippers' hard-fought 93-91 win over the Boston Celtics at home tonight. Baron Davis added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
No one told you that dance music was all the rage now? Murs drops some verses on Ed Banger Record's own Busy P's dance track "To Protect & Entertain." Lots of L.A. name dropping going on here... But Murs is "from L.A. Trick!"
For those who don't know, Reflection Eternal is a group featuring Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek (2/3 of the legendary Black Star). Hi-Tek is one of my favorite producers, so you know I was excited to hear that they are releasing a new album in the not so distant future. Their last album was released in 2000, and featured the hit "Move Somethin'." "Internet Connection" is the first leak from their upcoming album, and it features a guest appearance from Bootsy Collins.
Kanye is the newest artist to appear on VH1's Storytellers. The full show airs this Saturday, but we have a sneak peek of his performance of the song "Stronger." "Stronger" is one of those songs that was so overplayed that I really don't have to ever hear it again... This live version definitely breathes some new life into though.
B-Real's "Smoke N Mirrors" dropped today on Duck Down records. Go out and support the homies and pick up a copy. My favorite track is "I Only Love You When We're F*ckin'" featuring Kurupt, Too Short, and Young De!
It looks like Fab wants to smoke with the big boys...
Arkansas Police seized nearly 500 lbs of marijuana on a tour bus returning from NBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix, this week. According to the driver, the bus was allegedly escorting Fabolous to Boston to pick up "a rapper whose name he couldn't recall."
Though Fab was not on the bus at the time of the seizure, the two men who were arrested, Edward Thimas, 52, and Robert Morris, 44, claimed that Fabolous had loaded the marijuana into the locked compartment, as well as close to $6,500 in cash, which the police also confiscated.
Though both men agreed that the marijuana belonged to Fabolous, according to the police reports, their stories conflicted regarding the pickup of the drug shipment.
Earth Crisis have posted a new song called "To Ashes" on their Myspace page. This songs comes from their upcoming album, "To The Death," due out on Century Media in May. This is the only song that I have heard from their new album, but this song is better that 80% of the music they have released in the past. Judging from this song, I am definitely looking forward to hearing the whole record.
I jacked this YouTube video from DoubleCross... This video is a humorous mashup of a Barbie dance video from the 80's with the Cro-Mags song "We Gotta Know." The funny part about this video is that it really isn't that far off from what you see at a modern hardcore show. Gone are the days of stagedives, sing alongs, and dog piles. Instead there is a big empty hole with a few kids dancing and trying to look hard! If these dancers dressed different, threw a few punches, and did a few spin kicks they would be spot on!
Mr. Autotune drops a new joint featuring the King of Autotune AKA T Pain. This new track is called "Flight School," and it's actually way better than I expected. Why wasn't this on Heartbreak?
BL'AST! were a highly influential punk/hardcore bands from Santa Cruz that existed in the late 80's through the early nineties. They were heavily influenced by Black Flag even down to the guitars that they played. Their first release for SST, The Power of Expression, came out in 1986 (it had been previously released on smaller label Wishing Well). Tradition's "It's In My Blood" tee was a blatant rip-off of BL'AST!'s cover art from their album of the same name. The above video combines a few different live shows to make a short "documentary" of the band.
We are gearing up for Eyeone's upcoming show with Patrick Martinez which opens at Tradition on March 21st. We just posted a lengthy interview with Eyeone in our features section. You can read that here.
I have known EYEONE for well over 15 years. Aside from being a talented artist (both graffiti and fine art), an amazing graphic artist, and a curator, Eyeone used to own and operate The Macondo, an all ages punk and hardcore venue (and cultural center), that lasted from the mid to late nineties. For a number of years The Macondo was the only home for punk and hardcore in Los Angeles. Eyeone currently works as an artist and recently published a book of Los Angeles graffiti called Lost.
Lost - Ten Years is a special edition book celebrating a decade of the publication of the L.A.-based 'zine Lost | Graffiti in the City of Angels. The book features highlights from the long out of print first 12 issues, as well as unpublished material from some of L.A.’s most influential graffiti writers, and the true pioneers that pushed the limits of this art form on the streets of Los Angeles. Lost | Graffiti in the City of Angels began in 1998 as a self published D.I.Y photocopied fanzine started by EYEONE of the Seeking Heaven Crew. Though Graffiti as we know originated on the East Coast, it was the L.A. based graffiti writers that set new standards, bombing freeway overpasses, heaven spots, and scaling huge buildings in the never-ending pursuit to push the limits of their art form. Just as graffiti has evolved over the years, so has LOST as a publication. We sat down with EYEONE to talk about his inspiration, the evolution of LOST, and his thoughts about Graffiti in Los Angeles.
DOOM is back with another new track leading up to the release of his upcoming album, Born Like This. This track is called "Lightworks," and it was produced by the late, great J.Dilla.
Vimby hit the streets with Coney Island based MC Torae. Torae's strong work ethic and strong vocal presence have pushed him to the forefront of the up and comers from NY. He has already worked with such heavy hitters as Premier, 9th Wonder, Clark Kent, and more. Torae spits his own brand of "Feel Good" hip hop that is seldom heard anymore.
I didn't get a chance to go the Kaws' extremely hyped up and anticipated solo show "The Long Way Home" at Honor Fraser on Saturday. I opted to check out Internal Affairs last show at Chain Reaction instead. Supertouch was on hand at the Kaws show, and you can check out a full photo recap here. The LA Times recently ran an article about Kaws entitled "Tag, this artist is definitely it." You can read that here as well.
Here are a few new tracks for all of the Wayne fans out there. The first track is called "Where U At," and it features The Game and VH1's newest reality star Ray J. The second track is called "PaYow." Both of these are slated to be released on Big Mike's "4th Quarter Pressure pt. 3" alongside tracks from Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Camron, and more.
The latest project from Nike Sportswear gives us a very insightful look into the history of Nike’s legendary Cortez sneakers. Their newest video to launch is entitled The Cortez: Adoption, and it looks back at the adoption of the sneaker into a variety of different cultures from the West Coast to the East. Participants include: Mister Cartoon, Estevan Oriol, Patrick Martinez (yes the same Patrick Martinez that is having an artshow at Tradition next month), DJ EMZ, Ken Swift (Breakdancer), and Eric Haze. You can watch the video here.
Be sure to check out our upcoming artshow with Patrick Martinez and Eyeone opening March 21st.
Strong Arm Steady performed a short set of hits at "The Takeover" event we threw with the Soul Assassins crew a few weeks ago. The footage just keeps rolling in! Expect to see a few more live sets in the next few days!
If any of you have seen Pac Div live, you all know that this song, "Mayor," sets it off everytime. This track has been getting some radio play, and comes from their upcoming Universal Records debut.
"The deal is a good relief factor for us," said Like. "It lets us know we have been doing the right thing...hard work pays off at the end of the day, and our day isn't over, it's just begun. The name of the album to look forward to is Grown Kid Syndrome. No other details to the album as of now, but we will be realeasing two mini projects before that, one called Summer League Tryouts and the other is called Role Players." BeYoung added, "The deal we received was an exceptional one and the attention and respect we'll be getting from the label is definitely a plus in this." The third member of the trio, Mibbs, closed in saying, "I feel good about signing because I can perform on a platform that can help us gain recognition to the world on a much faster pace than on our own."
Vimby just dropped their video coverage of The Takeover event we did we Soul Assasins a few Saturdays ago. Shouts out to Mils, Muggs, Chase Tafoya, Eric at Vimby, and everyone that performed! We still have limited quantities of the Tradition X Soul Assassins tee available in our webstore.
Last night I saw Stacy Peralta's newest documentary entitled Crips and Bloods: Made in America. The movie is extremely well done, and it truly shows the history behind gang violence in Los Angeles. The character driven documentary is able to touch upon the factors that led up to some of the most violent bloodshed to ever infect our country, and it is able to do so WITHOUT glorifying gang violence in anyway. SkeeTV sat down with Baron Davis, Executive Producer of Crips and Bloods. This movie is currently playing across the country in limited release, and I definitely would recommend seeing it if you get a chance.
Our Spring sale starts tomorrow, and you definitely don't want to miss this one! Here's a radio rip of a new leak from the long awaited "Detox" album from the one and only Dr. Dre. The sound quality isn't geat, but this track is fire! Im glad Dre isn't just rehashing his sound from The Chronic 2001. Check out "Topless" here. Shouts out to the homeys at Soul Assassins for the working link!

Vimby sat down with designer Benny Gold. Benny is best known for his work with Huf and MASH, but he has also done work for such notables as Nike, Adidas, DVS, and Stussy.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Zach Randolph was suspended two games without pay for punching Louis Amundson of the Phoenix Suns in the face last night. I was watching the game and felt like it was more of a push punch to the face, he didn't really wind up. Pretty Funny though! Amundson didn't want any after either! Hahaha! Randolph forfeits $133,333 per game in salary too..
Here's a new joint from Havoc featuring the other half of Mobb Deep, Prodigy, called "On a Mission." Havoc's upcoming album, Hidden Files, drops February 24th.

Here is the newest video from Evidence's "Layover" e.p. He's one of the best from the West right now... If you haven't downloaded the "Layover" mixtape you are missing out on one of the best releases of '08.
Kaws' first ever sole show in Los Angeles is kicking off this Saturday at Honor Fraser. The Brooklyn-based artist will be presenting new painting and sculptural work in his first solo show in Los Angeles. KAWS’ technique acts as a sieve of modern culture, filtering and re-contextualizing the images and information that he comes in contact with daily. His process is all encompassing, embracing popular culture and the visual landscape of the familiar. The work can be thought of as an overarching brand; however it is also immediate and organic. This energetic immediacy can be felt in the selection of works that he is presenting. New large paintings included in the exhibition feature his usual cross-section of familiar cultural icons painted with precise execution. The resulting pieces feature the trademark graphic quality inherent in his work. A large life-size Chum acts as a sentry in the space, watching over the works while also playing with scale and proportion. I hate these early openings, because seem to miss out on them. Looks like I will be hitting the exhibit later on in the week. Stay tuned for photos!
I got a chance to check out the Made In America documentary last night. Although it gave the long history of what potentially started gangs, I expected a little more insight on todays Bloods and Crips! I was thinking they might go into neighborhoods and show some undercover shit but its still worth it to check out! You can also get more photos and watch more clips at Cripsandbloodsmovie.com.
Vimby's newest video is with Chicago MC and Kidz in the Hall member Naledge. Check the video as Vimby follows the self proclaimed "Nerd" around his hometown of Chicago and he spits a freestyle under the train tracks.
In thought I would post this live video of Jay-Z and Nas performing "Dead Presidents" in honor of Presidents Day. Below is the original video for Jay's version as well.
For the second time in 9 months, Suge Knight got his face punched and the alleged ass-beater claims to be someone from singer Akon's camp. It all went down in a private party at the W Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona where Suge was attending a private party for All-Star weekend. Cops say they were called to the scene by hotel security who warned about a brewing fight between two groups in the VIP area. According to the Scottsdale PD website, when cops arrived, they saw a man punch the victim aka Suge two times in the head." Officers had to break out the tasers to "quell the fight." The suspect, Robert Carnes Jr., was charged with one count of felony aggravated assault, they ruled it a felony "due to the severity of the victim's injuries." Another man was also arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Can't wait to see pics of Suge's face!
Baller Status just posted a photo set from "The Takeover" event we threw the Soul Assassins a little over a week ago. Shouts out to Buck for the pics! You can see more photos here.
Before the All Star game even started tonight Shaq had already stole the show with his performance with the dance crew Jabbawockeez! Shaq actually can move for a big dude! Hilarious! Check it out..
The NBA All Star game tonight was a blast to watch. Just like the good ol' days Shaq and Kobe stole the show. Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 27 points, Shaquille O'Neal partied his way back onto the All-Star stage with 17 in just 11 minutes, and the Western Conference beat the East 146-119 tonight while Kobe and Shaq got the co-MVP!
Blu is back with another mixtape entitled "HerFavoriteColo(u)r." He was named one of XXL's "Freshman 10 for '09," but will he be the next to blow? Only time will tell.
Today Allen Iverson showed up to the Eastern Conference All-Star practice with a new look. After 12-plus years with his trademark cornrow hair style, A.I. decided to trim them off. This is a big story because, when you think cornrows, the first thing that usually comes to mind is Allen Iverson. He basically started the trend in the NBA and still stuck with them even after many players cut theirs off.
We will be posting live performances of every one who performed at "The Takeover" event that we through in conjunction with the Soul Assassins last Saturday at Tradition. Up first is a live set from Self Scientific featuring Chase Infinite and DJ Khalil! Shouts out to everyone that performed that night and the whole Soul Assassins crew! Soul Assassins and Tradition are doing big things in '09!
Last Saturday, we had the opening reception of Chase Tafoya's "Face 2 Face" show as part of our "Takeover" event with the Soul Assassins crew. Chase is a self taught artist that specializes in highly detailed large scale portraits. He also did some amazing hand painted skateboards of all the artists the performed the night of the event. Durant shattered the rookie/soph scoring record of 36 set by Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire as a sophomore in 2004. Decked out in Day-Glo orange high-tops, Durant hit 17 of 25 shots from the floor, 4-of-8 from beyond the arc, and made all eight of his free throws. Durant also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds.
Last week Rick Ross dropped a diss track over one of Murs' beats, and started of the track by saying "I don't know Murs..." Murs returns the favor and drops a track over Rick Ross' "Boss" beat...
"Now I don't know Ross, but I know I'm the boss of comic books, skateboards, and panties getting tossed... On stage while you dudes engage in internet beef trying to make the front page"
This is getting ridiculous! Who else is getting involved?
Ca$his was on air with The West Wing (Soul Assassins radio) discussing the 50 Cent/Rick Ross beef... "This is like a plea for help... It's like I'm watching a child get abused and there's nothing I can do...."
A few days ago we posted Young De's interview from Hip Hop Official... Now we bring you his live performance which includes a freestyle and his track "Cold World." Young De is doing big things in '09, and we are glad to have him as part of the Tradition team!
Here's 13-year-old Alfie Patten tenderly cradling his newborn daughter, Maisie, who was born on Monday. Alfie says he's up for the challenge. "I didn't know what it would be like to be a dad," he said. "I will be good, though, and care for it." When this baby-faced, 4-foot tall boy was asked how he plans to provide for the baby financially, he replied, "What's financially?" Asked what he'll do about money, he says "I don't know," and looks away. Diapers cost "a lot," Alfie thinks, but he's not sure how he's going to pay for them. "I don't really get pocket money. My dad sometimes gives me £10. Clearly, Alfie, Maisie, and her mom, 15-year-old Chantelle Stedman will need to be supported by their parents. The three are currently living with Chantelle's parents and her five brothers. But it might just be the adults that got everyone into this situation to begin with. "The Stedmans let the kids run wild on the street until all hours, they have no control over them," a neighbor told The Daily Mail. Alfie was often encouraged to stay overnight, even keeping a school uniform there despite the fact that Alfie's mother lives nearby, and despite the fact he was only 12. Who's watching who here?
Times are so tough right now for everyone that even MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice are feeling the effects of the economy! There is news that MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice are staging a comeback concert at the McKay Event Center in Orem, Utah. The gig goes down February 27 and tickets range from $29.50 - $35.00. Anyone want to roll with me? Hahaha! J/K
Ex Danity Kane member Aubrey O'Day certainly isn't shy about her body. Her March issue Playboy photo spread about to hit newsstands on Friday. "We constantly feel the need to not say this or not wear this or do that, and taking it all off and being nude is the most natural state that you can be in," she told MTV News about the pictorial. "Being able to feel comfortable with that and show that sex can be a beautiful, comfortable — your sexuality can be a beautiful, comfortable thing — is going to be empowering for people. SHE'S A RAT! SHE COULD GET IT THOUGH! HAHAHAHA!
Seems 50 and Ross are doing songs daily! Here's 50's new diss joint "Tia Told Me." Just in case you don't know who Tia is, its Rick Ross's baby mama! 50 has been kicking it with her and taking her shopping to piss off Ross! Damn thats wrong! Just watch, someone is gonna get shot soon! You can download it here.
Here's the interview with Tia and the shopping spree!! 50 is killing Ross!! Hahaha!
The rap triumvirate of Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 Cent soars 78-1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Crack a Bottle," which sets a Nielsen SoundScan record for opening week download sales (418,000). The first-week sum outpaces the prior mark of 335,000 downloads shifted by T.I. featuring Rihanna in the Oct. 18, 2008, issue. Among all weekly totals, "Bottle" ranks third behind Flo Rida's "Low" (467,000 on Jan, 12, 2008) and Lady GaGa's "Just Dance" (419,000 on Jan, 10, 2009).
Alchemist is definitely one of my favorite producers from the west coast... He recently sat down with XLR8R TV to talk about his approach to beat making, his inspiration, and his work with Mobb Deep. Peep the video and get into the mind of ALC.
Evidence is one of my favorite MC's coming up from the west. Check out his newest video featuring Phonte, Blu, and Will.I.Am called For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Here's a new joint from Jadakiss called "Hard Times," featuring Barrington Levy! Do u remember Barrington? He had that huge song with Shyne called "Bad Boys." The track is dope, You can download it here.
Here's the "Bad Boys" video with Shyne featuring Barrington Levy!
Sirius XM Radio Inc. has hired advisers to prepare for a possible bankruptcy filing, which could come in days, according to a news report. The New York Times said late yesterday documents and analysis of a potential Chapter 11 filing are nearly complete, say people close to the company. Sirius, whose radio personalities include shock jock Howard Stern, has struggled to refinance its debt load at a time when banks are skittish about lending. About $1 billion worth of debt comes due in 2009.
Michael Jordan's résumé as an executive has long been tarnished by the name Kwame Brown, his much-maligned choice with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft when he ran the Washington Wizards. Seven years later, he now has to live with another failed decision: Adam Morrison, Jordan's first draft pick with the Charlotte Bobcats. After not living up to expectations, Jordan traded the No. 3 overall selection in 2006 to the Los Angeles Lakers over the weekend. In a rare conference call with reporters today, Jordan owned up to the mistakes, but insisted other moves he's made as managing partner of the Bobcats have positioned the struggling franchise to compete long-term. "I think we've grown from it. I've grown from it and hopefully down the road when you make a choice, you try to make a better choice," Jordan said from Chicago, where he still lives after winning six NBA titles as a player with the Bulls. "People are going to point out the mistakes. Very rarely do they point out the successes. I understand that. It's part of the game." Jordan's Bobcats have been the NBA's most active team this season. After luring Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown out of his two-year exile following a bungled season in New York, Jordan has teamed with his tinkering coach to pull off three trades and use a league-high 23 players.
Thought I would post Ross's newest diss track aimed at 50 and G-Unit, its called "Push'em Over The Ledge." He sampled the Eric B and Rakim joint "Know The Ledge," off the movie Juice! This battle is really starting to heat up, i'm curious to see who's camp gets shot first! Hahaha! Thats harsh I know but its inevitable! You can check it out here.
The homie Diz Gibran continues to come out with heat, his newest joint "Once Again" is one track of his upcoming mixtape "Soon You’ll Understand", presented by Crooks & Castles. The track is produced by Moonshine and the sample he used is dope! You can check it out here.
Young De is Hip Hop Official's artist of the week. He discusses his move from Philly to Cali, his work with Kurupt, the Homeland Security project, and his work with B-Real with Cypress Hill. Of course, the homey is reppin' Tradition hard, and he is rocking the new Tradition X Soul Assassins crewneck and our newest "L.A. pack" New Era! Don't sleep on Young De... He is doing big things in '09!
There was a time in my life where any record with a Revelation Records logo on it was considered golden. From their first release of the Warzone 7 inch in 1987, to the 22 releases after it from such bands as Judge, Youth of Today, Gorilla Biscuits, Burn, Inside Out, Side by Side, and more, I worshipped EVERY release Revelation put out. In 1991, Revelation records put out a 2 song e.p. from Ray and Porcell (of Youth of Today), and this is when I feel the label started to change it's direction. Although I really enjoyed many of the subsequent releases including records from Sensefield, Iceburn,Into Another, and Kiss it Goodbye, it was truly the consistency of the first 22 releases (minus the Slipknot 7 inch) that made Revelation Records the legendary record label that it has been for the last 20 years. Revelation Records teamed up with Adidas to produce this extremely limited (promo only) Campus to celebrate their 150th release, a 22nd anniversary compilation featuring classic Revelation Records songs covered by a cast of 20 bands including Sick of it All, Terror, Ignite, and Set Your Goals. Only 150 pairs of these shoes were made, with a pair going to each member of every band on the comp... Collectors, I wish you luck! You can read a detailed interview with Revelation Record's Jordan Cooper about the release on Crooked Tongues.
You guys all saw Strong Arm Steady, Planet Asia, and Chase Infinite kill it at the shop on Saturday night... Peep the video for their newest track "Black History" of their Gang Mentality mixtape.
Technicalities kept Vladimir Radmanovic on the bench a day after he was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Charlotte Bobcats. They didn't keep him from voicing his displeasure over his former team's game plans. "Being a Laker was a great experience," Radmanovic told The Charlotte Observer before Sunday's 96-92 loss in Miami. "But it was also frustrating not knowing when and how I'd play."The small forward said the trade that sent him to the Bobcats for forward Adam Morrison and reserve guard Shannon Brown was a blessing in disguise. "Phil's system, great as it is, doesn't give a role player much opportunity," Radmanovic said. "For Kobe Bryant, it's great. For Pau Gasol, it's great. But role players don't do much.'' The Serbian pointed to the value of his versatility Sunday. He told the Observer he's comfortable at power forward or small forward. "I've been playing 3 and 4 my whole career,'' Radmanovic said. "Obviously I'm a little quicker than most 6-10 guys, so I can guard smaller players.'' Im actually glad he is gone, he was super inconsistent!
I actually don't feel to bad for him, this is his fiancee! WOW!

His voice shaking at times, Alex Rodriguez met head-on allegations that he tested positive for steroids six years ago, telling ESPN today that he did take performance-enhancing drugs while playing for the Texas Rangers during a three-year period beginning in 2001. "When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure, I felt like I had all the weight of the world on top of me and I needed to perform, and perform at a high level every day," Rodriguez told ESPN's Peter Gammons in an exclusive interview in Miami Beach, Fla. An extended interview will air on SportsCenter at 6 p.m. ET. "Back then, [baseball] was a different culture," Rodriguez said. "It was very loose. I was young, I was stupid, I was naïve. And I wanted to prove to everyone that I was worth being one of the greatest players of all time. "I did take a banned substance. And for that, I am very sorry and deeply regretful."
Dilla's Birthday was Saturday, February 7th. DJ Rhettmatic did a mini megamix of Dilla's music as a tribute to a hip hop legend that passed on way before his time. You can download the mix here. This is what Rhettmatic had to say about the mix... "...This is a mini mega mix of some of Dilla’s songs & production. I originally did this as a 10 minute mix for the mixtape project that J.Rocc, Houseshoes, & myself did with Dave New York 2 years ago to help out Mrs. Maureen Yancey aka Ma Dukes, Dilla’s mother…..an incredible lady (if y’all know the name of the mix cd project, go head & get it……) So I extended this mix from 10 minutes to 35 minutes. It was pretty much impossible for me to get everything that Dilla did on this mix (he has such a big discography, it’s ridiculous), especially for the fact I wanted to finish this before his birthday in such a short period of time. Of course, you’ll hear some of the classic songs that Dilla has produced in the mix, but you’ll also get to here some Dilla beats that you might have or have not heard before, and a live recording of Dilla performing “F*ck The Police” at one of his show in Europe (Paris, France to be exact) on his last tour ever (I was lucky & honored to be his tour dj for his last performances).
Sheyla Hershey's massive 38KKK breasts have been declared the world's biggest boob job, according to Britain's Daily Star. The 28-year-old, a Texas housewive, has had nine operations to get her up to this size. She traveled to Brazil to get her last procedure which took her from an FFF to a KKK after Texas officials refused to do it, for fear that her breasts could explode. Hershey, from Houston, said: "To me, big is beautiful. I don't think I have anything to worry about." Hershey is now in record books for having the biggest breast implants ever, according to Britain's Daily Star.

Lil' Wayne & Robin Thicke
Coldplay & Jay-Z
Kanye, Jay-Z, T.I & M.I.A
On a related note... Here are a few questions I had about the Grammys last night: Is Kid Rock still relevant? He played a painfully long medley of at least three songs. Who is buying that shit? Kanye... WTF is up with that haircut? You look like a Young Lionel Richie. Can Katie Perry really sing? Her performances sounded like a dying cat. Are the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus only as big as they are because their fans are too young to download music? I was bummed I had to listen (and watch) the extremely fruity Jonas Brothers ruin Stevie Wonder's hits...
Shepard Fairey, 38, was arrested Friday night on his way to the Institute of Contemporary Art. Fairey was scheduled to DJ a kickoff event at the museum for his first-ever solo exhibition, called “Supply and Demand.” Two warrants were issued for Fairey on Jan. 24 after police determined he’d tagged property in two locations with graffiti based on the Andre the Giant street art campaign from his early career.

Lil' Wayne appeared on the David Letterman show to give the top ten reasons he's looking forward to the Grammys. Letterman is still the king of late night... Screw Leno, the English dude, and Sarah Silverman's boyfriend.
The Clipse have been dropping these little video clips as they are gearing up for the release of their upcoming album "Till The Casket Drops." EMINEM FT. CA$HIS & BOBBY CREEKWATER - CRACK A BOTTLE (REMIX)
It looks like Shady Records is finally gearing up for the release of Ca$his' upcoming album. I know you all heard the Homeland Security mixtape he did with Young De, and you couldn't miss Ca$his' monster of a hit he released on the "Re-Up" album a few years back. Em enlisted Ca$his and Bobby Creekwater for the remix of his current hit "Crack A Bottle."Ca$his can spit, and I am looking forward to the album.
NAT KING COLE FT. NAS & SALAAM REMI - THE GAME OF LOVE
Here's a new joint from the late Nat King Cole Featuring Nas and Salaam Remi. Its called "The game of Love," off the upcoming Nat King Cole remix album. You can download it here. Its sounds pretty dope and Nas kills his verse.
According to some gay rights groups the SHAQ came across as being anti-gay in this commercial he filmed for ESPN. As a result ESPN chose to pull the ad before he made its way into regular circulation. Its not that bad, its blown way out of proportion!
I am sure you guys all know about the event we are doing with Soul Assassins this Saturday at Tradition. I'm all for a good prank... Especially when no one gets hurt by it. Pranksters in at least three states are messing with electronic road signs meant to warn motorists of possible traffic problems by putting drivers on notice about Nazi zombies and raptors. And highway safety officials aren't amused. Other signs include: "DAILY LANE CLOSURES DUE TO ZOMBIES." "RAPTORS AHEAD -- CAUTION." "NAZI ZOMBIES! RUN!!!"

What She Said was a very short lived improv hardcore project that featured Mike Down (Amenity, Forced Down), Chris Bratton (Chain of Strength, NFAA, Inside Out, etc), Alex Baretto (Chain, Statue, Inside Out), and Josh (Forced Down). Enjoy the video, blatantly ripped from Radio Silence.
"This show remains the most perfect release of any show I’ve played in my 25 years of playing, in that we all four completely lost ourselves in the moment, with no self-consciousness. it was exactly how you always dream a show would be, but rarely goes down like you envision." - Chris Bratton
In a somewhat strange mix of cultures, the ultra-talented Girl skateboard team, Kanye West, and famous director Spike Jonze recently got together for a special video shoot. Pictured above (from left to right) is Eric Koston, Kanye West, Spike Jonze, Rick Howard, and Mike Carrol. This is what Kanye's barber had to say... "Kanye and Spike Jonze shot a short film a couple weeks ago and Spike had the the guys from GIRL Skateboards come down to the set. They were in the “Benjamins Remix” video as extras, but this time they actually played real parts in the film…"

Jeremy discusses the show, SF history, and why he’s happier with his art and life now than he ever has been.
Kobe Bryant broke the current Madison Square Garden record with 61 points tonight. Bryant teased and pleased a sold-out crowd that took turns booing him and saluting him with "MVP!" chants during an electrifying performance. He passed Michael Jordan's opponent record of 55 points at the present building, known as "Garden IV," when he hit three free throws with 3:56 remaining, then bettered Bernard King's mark of 60, set on Christmas Day 1984, with two more foul shots with 2:33 to play. Bryant, who also finished with the highest-scoring game in the NBA this season, left to a loud ovation after the 24th 50-point game of his career. It was also his fifth 40-point game here.

In one of the best Super Bowls ever, the Steelers blew a 13-point lead before they delivered their own comeback to beat Arizona, 27-23! The Cardinals gave a unbelievable effort, I thought it was over when the Card's Fitzgerald caught that slant for a long td! Oh yea, I had to show the pic of the steelers Santonio Holmes game winning catch!

Olympic great Michael Phelps acknowledged "regrettable" behavior and "bad judgment" after a photo in a British newspaper showed him inhaling marijuana from a bong. In a statement released today, the swimmer who won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Games did not dispute the authenticity of the exclusive picture published Saturday by the tabloid News of the World. "I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment," Phelps said in the statement released by one of his agents. "I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again." YEAH RIGHT!
