A Vermont man is $650,000 richer after retrieving a lottery ticket he had been given for Christmas but accidentally threw away. Steven LeClair of Richford got the ticket for the Dec. 24 Tri-State Megabucks drawing as a gift from his mother. But it was in a gift bag that LeClair threw out, not knowing it was inside. Vermont Lottery spokeswoman Hadley Melendy says LeClair's wife found out two days later that the only winning ticket had been sold at a market in Richford. So LeClair went through the trash at his home and found it. LeClair works for a car dealership and doesn't normally play the lottery.
Charles Barkley was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early this morning. An officer with a task force that targets drunken driving saw the former NBA star run a stop sign about 1:30 a.m., Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler said. Barkley was in Scottsdale's Old Town area, a trendy spot in the Phoenix area. "I am disappointed that I put myself in that situation," Barkley said in a statement to The Associated Press. "The Scottsdale police were fantastic. I will not comment any further as it is a legal matter."
"Ladies and gentlemen... The moment you've all been waiting for..." Here's some new Em for the new year... Check out "Crack A Bottle" here. An earlier version of this leaked a few weeks back but we didn't post it, so I figured I would throw this one up for all of you... Marshall raps a verse fore Dre that may or may not make the final version.

Here's a behind the scenes look at B-Real's listening party for his upcoming album "Smoke & Mirrors", which is due out in February on Duckdown Records. He talks a little more about weed than the album, but would you expect anything less?
It's that time of year again...Skillz just dropped his "2008 Wrap Up." He's been dropping these for the last few years, and they always cover everything that went down.

Clippers swingman Ricky Davis was suspended five games yesterday for violating terms of the NBA's drug program. The NBA said Davis' suspension will begin with the next game for which he is eligible and physically able to play. Davis, who hasn't played since Nov. 22 because of a sore left knee, is averaging 4.3 points in 13 games in his first season with the Clippers. This dude is a dumb ass, we need to trade him ASAP!
Eighty81 sat down with GOOD Music's Kid Cudi to talk about what it takes to make it in the music industry. This interview really sheds some light on this up and comer from Cleveland.
I don't really care about these... I just wanted to beat our celebrity blogger/employee 50YEN to the punch... These are new pics of the Air Yeezy which are slated to drop as a Quickstrike around March of 2009... I bet Bui is already waiting in line somewhere!
I came across this old Black Flag interview somewhere on the internet... Part of me feels sorry for the poor kid doing the interview, and another part of me can't help but laugh... Here are a few of my favorite quotes... "You look like some kind of warrior man..." "So... You guys selling out?" "... If I'm selling out, how come we're playing little tiny places like this?"
Here's some new Kanye to brighten up your boring ass Monday. This unreleased track is called "Payback", and features Sly Polaroid and Timmy G. This DEFINITELY isn't an out take from 808's... This is on some classic 'Ye shit...
If you missed the news today then you didn't hear about the 14 innocent children that were killed today in Kabul, Afghanistan. A single-file line of school children walked past a military checkpoint today as a bomb-loaded truck veered toward them and exploded, ending the lives of 14 young Afghans in a heartbreaking flash captured by a U.S. military security camera. The video shows an SUV slowly weaving through sand bag barriers at a military checkpoint just as a line of school children, most wearing white caps, comes into view. They walk along a pathway between the street and a wall, several of them pausing for a few seconds in a group before moving forward again. The vehicle moves toward the security camera while the children walk in the opposite direction, nearly passing the SUV when the footage ends in a fiery blast. SO SAD! ONLY COWARDS DO THIS!
So much music was released this year, some good, some bad, and some didn't even get even a spin or a download... It was hard to narrow these choices down, so I apologize in advance if your favorite album didn't make this list. I tried to choose an eclectic mix of albums from a variety of genres. Here are the choices for the album of 2008... Get your vote on!
Here's an unreleased Biggie track called "Microphone Murderer" from the upcoming Notorious sound track. Supposedly, this is the track that got him signed... And the rest is history.
TRADITION X INTERNAL AFFAIRS X TRIUMVIR X DEATHWISH X TLFI X MALFUNCTION AND MORE!
Corey from IA came up with this crazy collab tee for Internal Affairs' upcoming Australian tour. It's made to look like an MMA sponsorship t-shirt. These are extremely limited, so try your luck on Ebay. I am going to be filling on bass for Internal Affairs East Coast tour at the end of January, so look for me making a mess of their songs at a city near you.

The Christmas Day game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics was the highest rated regular-season NBA game in four years. The rematch of last season's NBA finals earned a 5.3 fast national rating on ABC, the network said. The rating for the Lakers' 92-83 victory, which snapped Boston's 19-game winning streak, was 51 percent higher than the 3.5 mark for last year's late Christmas game between the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns.
After work on Saturday I am going to try to make it down to the Echoplex to check out the Basement Block Stars party featuring performances from Pacific Division, U-N-I, Diz Gibran, Dom Kennedy, and more... Let's see if I can get some of my lazy employees to show up too!
Space Invader as you may know him, is a street artist out of France, he creates his space invader characters as well as other video game characters in his signature style, constructed of tiles made to look like pixels. His street work can be seen in over 40 different countries and he has now started “Invading” the gallery scene with his indoor works. In this video he explains his new binary code street art. He is stepping up the street art game by incorporating his lo-tech ceramic tile work with high-tech binary code technology. He creates binary codes in black and white ceramic tiles and with an i-phone application called i-matrix (or BeeTag) you can translate the hidden messages in his new works. I think this is a very creative approach to add a futuristic touch to his retro looking work. Check the video for the full break down.
Lil' Wayne talks some nonsense after his recent appearance at the Gibson Amphitheater in L.A. For some reason he thinks he is going to be nominated for an Academy Award.
I have to say that getting 2 2nd row tickets to Lakers vs Celtics Xmas day game was probably one of my most favorite Xmas gifts ever. It was a mad house at Staples. The star studded game was the hot ticket of the year, it felt like the Finals! My Lakers pulled it out despite some scary moments. This post is pretty long but I hope you enjoy the pics..
You know I had to wear the Kobe tee.

Fashawn is an up and coming MC from Fresno, Ca. You may not have heard of him yet, but trust me, Fashawn will be making some noise in 2009. He just dropped his newest mixtape "Higher Learning" in collaboration with OnSmash and NahRight. The mixtape features appearances from Evidence, Alchemist, Krondon, Kid Cudi, Adele, Mickey Factz, and more. You can download "Higher Learning" here.
“There is a lot of shit that I haven’t spoken about even though I put out like five mixtapes. That’s why I can’t wait for my career to unfold.” - Fashawn
A nine year-old girl in India named M. Lavinashree has passed the Microsoft Certified Professional Exam, becoming the youngest person to ever pull it off (smashing the record previously held by a 10 year-old Pakistani girl). The Microsoft exam, usually taken by techies for better job prospects, measures problem-solving skills and Lavinashree (9) passed it with flying colours. She is now cramming for the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Exam. Check the video! Wonder if she is related to our good neighbor Ghandi! Haha
Eccentric designer Vinti Andrews got together with the NIKEiD Studio in London to create this life-size pit bull sculpture made out of Nike Air Max 90 shoes. I've seen people customize shoes, but this is really taking it to the next level. The Air Max 90 Dogs are for sale at Loveless in Aoyama, Tokyo. Good luck getting your paws on one.
Here's one of the most gruesome football injuries you will ever see. In the New Orleans Bowl game, Southern Mississippi's standout receiver DeAndre Brown broke free on a route near the left sideline. Quarterback Austin Davis lofted a pass, but just as Brown planted his left foot, it seemed to catch in the turf. He tumbled to the ground while trying to extend for the ball. Brown immediately began to clutch at his lower left leg, holding it up in the air as part of the leg dangled at an impossible angle. Disgusting! He was diagnosed with a fractured left tibia.
Royce is on some storytelling shit on this one... Royce flips a classic urban legend on his newest track "Part of Me." Listen to the whole song because, like the Twilight Zone, the twist is at the end... You can download "Part of Me" here. Royce's new album "Street Hop" drops on April 9th and is Executive Produced by DJ Premier.
My friend Pat once told me "Collabs are like assholes... everybody has one." Although that statement rings true, we saw a bunch of great collabs drop in 2008. So many, actually, that I could hardly remember all of them. Anyway, here is a short list of a few that stood out. Let's see who makes the cut!
I have always been a fan of Paul Reubens. From his early appearances in the Cheech and Chong movies, Pee Wee's Playhouse, and even his more recent role in Blow, Paul Reubens has always had me laughing. Most of us grew up with the Pee Wee movies as well, so I am sure most of you will be excited to hear the there is a Pee Wee's Playhouse movie slated for production in 2009! I'm sure most of you couldn't care less about his police record... So what? The dude likes porn... Not that big of a deal. It's sad to see that his convictions were able to put such a talented guys career on hold for so long. Swindle recently did an interview with Paul Reubens for their third annual Icons Issue, discussing the past present and future of Pee Wee Herman, which you can read here.
Grand Star Jazz in downtown L.A. has been Chinatown's home for hip hop for a minute now. On Saturday, January 3rd, Boombox is hosting an event with Exile and Percee P. Mark your calendars now, because you won't want to miss a DJ and live MPC set from Exile.
Graphic artist, Grotesk, breaks down the current trend of fixed gear bikes in NYC. This is pretty relevant for L.A. as well... I see quite a few of these guys on a daily basis.
By now you have all seen tons of footage from the big party we did with Akomplice back in November. We just got another video sent to us fro our boy Oliver Brian. This is actually the longest of all the videos from the event, and it features interviews with me and Jason, Raekwon, Young De, and Patrick and Mike from Akomplice.
Marsha Ambrosius is an up and coming singer from the UK group Floetry. She is signed to Aftermath, and is supposedly all over Dre's upcoming "Detox." You may have heard her voice on such songs as Hi-Tek's "Music For Life", The Game's "Start From Scratch", Nas' "Hustlers", and many more. Here newest mixtape was produced entirely by Focus and features appearances from Little Brother, Busta Rhymes, and The Game. You can download "Yours Truly" here.
Vimby has got the streets on lock... Check out their newest feature of the NY premier of Nike SB's "Nothing But The Truth" skate video. The film was three years in the making, and features some of the top pros in the game.
Last Saturday, Shepard Fairey's Subliminal Projects Gallery hosted the opening for Glen E. Friedman’s first retrospective, Idealist Propaganda. Friedman chose to show prints from all his series – Fuck You All, Fuck You Heroes, Fuck You Too, and Recognize. Wether you know it our not, I guarantee that all of you are familiar with the work of Glen E. Friedman. From his iconic images of Tony Alva and the entire Z-Boys crew, to his photos of every great punk bands that ever existed from Minor Threat, SSD, Bad Brains, Black Flag and more, to his images of Hip Hop legends from Run DMC, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, KRS One, and other... I guarantee you have seen his work. Juxtapoz recently ran a review of the show that also features a full length interview with Glen E. Friedman which you can read here.
Kobe will be debuting his new Nike Zoom Kobe IV tonight against the Miami Heat. Hope he doesn't sprain his ankle since they are low tops, in any case Tradition will be getting all colors of this shoe!
I saw a lot of great art shows in 2008. There are so many great artists, both big and small. I wanted to concentrate on some up and comings artists as opposed to the obvious artists that seem to get all the press anyway. Yeah, I know your favorite rapper likes Kaws, I know Futura designed your favorite SB's, and I know Damien Hirst and Banksy made mad loot this year... This list is limited to artists that have shown at Tradition... If you don't know them, google them and get familiar.
New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul set an NBA record with a steal in his 106th straight regular-season game last night. Paul broke Alvin Robertson's mark set between November 1985 and December 1986. Robertson was playing for San Antonio when he set the previous mark of 105, which Paul tied Tuesday night in Memphis. Paul broke the record when he stole the ball from San Antonio's Tony Parker with 3:43 left in the second quarter. The crowd immediately recognized the record and stood in applause. CP3 is so real its scary!
You guys have all heard different stories about rock stars and their outlandish requests on their tour riders... The story that is is the most ridiculed is one band's request that stipulated that brown M&M's should be banned from their backstage dressing room! The band was Van Halen, performers of such classics as "Panama", "Jump", and "Runnin' With The Devil." Check out the highlighted paragraph from their infamous rider below... Van Halen has since claimed that the M&M provision was included to make sure that promoters had actually read their lengthy rider. If brown M&M's were in the backstage candy bowl, Van Halen assumed that more important aspects of a performance including lighting, staging, security, or ticketing may have been botched by an inattentive promoter.
Check out the homies from Terror, live from the "Persistence Tour" in Europe. This footage was shot just a few days ago in Europe, and features an in depth interview with frontman Scott Vogel.
Talented graffiti artist, fine artist, curator, and friend of Tradition, Eyeone recently put out a book of his latest work. The book is sort of a yearbook showcasing his works from 2008. The book comes complete with artboard covers, hand-letterpressed embossing, a slipcase, and two giclee tip-in prints? All I can say is "where's my copy?" This book will be available soon on Eyeone's website.
Freeway has just hit the midpoint of his "Month of Madness." He took a page out of Young Chris' book and decided to drop a new track everyday for the month of December. I Haven't really been posting these up, because I knew that I couldn't keep up. When I saw that his newest track "Get it Started" was produced by Alchemist, you know I had to post it up. To be honest, I've heard Freeway go a lot harder...
"Never rapped a Bentley, But I'm definitely rapping a Charger..."
Exile is known to kill it on the MPC. Check out this detailed video where he flips some classic Heiro and the sample from Lil'Wayne's "A Milli." Dude does some crazy shit... All live too!
Who knew Sharpie had a blog? Rebel 8 founder and amazing artist Mike Giant works primarily with Sharpies, and even released his own marker with Sharpie this year! To return the favor, Sharpie posted an interesting interview with Mike Giant on their blog which you can read here.
"I began using Sharpies as a graffiti artist in the late 80s. They were the pen of choice for inking our graffiti sketches in our sketchbooks, and they were readily available (and easy to steal). From then on, I’ve used Sharpies almost exclusively in rendering my final drawings."
Blogs... We all read them. Wether we are bored at work, or just surfing the internet at home, blogs have become an integral part of how we all get our information... Get your vote on.
It looks like the "Sham Wow" dude got a new job... The "Breakfast to go" looks horrible, but I have to give him points for saying "You're gonna love my nuts!" I swear this dude is a robot.
Just in case you don't watch the news, Cedric Jackson swished a 60-foot shot at the buzzer to give Cleveland State a 72-69 victory over No. 11 Syracuse on Monday night. Jackson took an inbounds pass with 2.2 seconds remaining and let the desperation shot go just as time expired to send the Orange (9-1) to their first loss. CRAZY!
I know you have all been holding your breath for a new Pepsi can... Oh, you weren't? Neither was I... I rarely drink soda, and if I do it's Diet Coke. Anyway, Pepsi came out with a new can. Someone in their marketing department knows the power of the blogs, and they teamed up with Hypebeast, Union, Sneaktip, Clae, and a few others to bring you a one day pop-up shop event and a party featuring appearances from The Clipse and Pacific Division. I don't know how any of this is gonna make you want to drink Pepsi, but hell... I'm probably not the person they are trying to market their drink to. I went to the party Saturday night. Clipse rocked it hard, but Pac Div stole the show. Check the pics below...
Here's a short video from Amenity's recent show in San Diego to support the book Radio Silence. This was Amenity's first show in quite sometime, and I am sorry I missed it.
“Keys 2 the City” explores the bond between artists and their communities by following them to the barbershops, BBQ joints, basketball courts, swap meets, and schoolyards that they go to as people, sans stage names, where they're welcome by memories and familiar faces. The newest episode features The Game kicking knowledge at the car wash on Melrose and Fairfax.
KADINALL OFFISHALL FT. DR. DRE AND PUSHA T - SET IT OFF
Here's the story from DJ Skee himself: We (Skee.TV) shot the “Set It Off” video for Kardinal ft. The Clipse, and Jimmy Iovine loved it and sent it to Dre direct (since we had the Beats By Dre headphones in it). Then, Dre loved the song & video so much he was inspired to do a verse on it that night (I got called by the label the next day saying Dre rapped on it after being inspired by our video- a pretty good feeling). This was when he was still trying to come out with Detox this year and he wanted to start hopping on records… needless to say, those plans later changed, and thus the remix never came out (it just leaked somehow today, but was done months ago), but it is 100% real and official…
Check out the remix to Kardinall Offishall's "Set It Off" Featuring Dr. Dre and Pusha T here.
An angry Iraqi threw a shoe (two actually) at President George W. Bush during a press conference in Baghdad over the weekend. Supposedly the beef was over an Ebay transaction that went bad! The angry Iraqi was upset because the Jordan III's he purchased from George Jr. weren't DS but rather VNDS! When Paypal wouldn't return his funds, he had no choice but to hurl the slightly worn III's at our future ex-President.
This little girl is a star in the making... She can't be older than 5, and she sings and dances to the whole version of Jeezy and Kanye's "I Put On." Shouldn't she be watching Sesame Street or something?
Peep the newest track from Jadakiss featuring Lil' Wayne called "Deathwish." Supposedly this is the first version to leak, and there will be another version featuring another rapper from the South.
20 CLASSIC HIP HOP ALBUM COVERS RECREATED WITH LEGOS
I know you all played with Legos as a kid. Hell, I bet even some of you still play with Legos now! FormatMag recently did a piece recreating 20 classic hip hop album covers with Legos. If only the came with a little Lego record player that played the little Lego records! You can see all of the record cover here.
Heisman finalists Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow have the impressive numbers. Each produced a Heisman moment this season, each elevated his team and each is a talented quarterback and possesses the attributes of a Heisman winner. No wonder this figures to be one of the closest Heisman races in history. But only one can walk off with the statue Saturday! Should it be Bradford, McCoy or Tebow? My vote is Sam Bradford.
Our good friend, and talented artist, Derek Albeck will be having his first gallery solo show at POV Gallery in Los Angeles on January 10th. I just did a small interview for the Straight Edge Hardcore website How's Your Edge. I talk about the history of my band Strife, hardcore, and Tradition. You can read the interview here.
It's official! Our first official New Era collaboration is here, and it releases this Saturday! We decided to release all of our New Eras in packs of two. 10 Deep has been dropping mixtapes left and right. This time they teamed up with DJ Benzi to bring you "The New Deal" which features unreleased tracks from Wale, Blu, Kid Cudi, Santogold, Kanye West, and more. You can download The New Deal for free here.
It has been announced that Lil' Wayne's documentary The Carter is gonna debut at this years Sundance Film Festival! The film is an in-depth look at the artist proclaimed by many as the "Greatest rapper alive." It is apparently packed with comprehensive and personal interviews with Lil Wayne and will also feature insight from those that know him best. Sounds Dope!
Nipsey Hussle is an up and coming West Coast artist from the streets of Slauson. His debut mixtape "Bullets Ain't Got No Name Vol. 1" with Felli Fel, DJ Skee and The Empire was released earlier in they year. That mixtape featured the street smash "They Roll" featuring The Game. He recently inked a deal with Jon Shapiro's Cinematic Music Group through Epic/Sony and he's still grinding, releasing his newest mixtape "Bullets Aint Got No Name Vol. II" with DJ Skee this week. You can learn more about Nipsey in the video below.
Junior Reid has collaborated with a bunch of artists including the Wu Tang Clan, Fat Joe, Alicia Keys, Fabolous, Mims and more, but it was his sample inclusion in The Game’s 2006 album, “The Doctors Advocate” that solidified Reid's name in the eyes of the public and won him over a new generation of fans. Junior Reid is back, this time including a verse from Lil' Wayne on his newest track "Ghetto Youth's Rock" which is actually one of the best Wayne tracks I have heard in a minute.
It's been a long time in the making, but it's finally done! Check out our newest video/commercial for the shop. Shouts out to the homey Oseeola and Front Street Records for recording the "Tradition Anthem" which was produced by Worldwardrew.
So Ghostface has a new album dropping next Tuesday called "Ghostdeini The Great." Can it live up to the greatness that was Fishscales? That I'm not sure, but here a few tracks to wet your appetite. Never underestimate Tony Stark! Check out "Slept on Tony" and "Run Remix" ft. Jadakiss, Raekwon, Lil' Wayne, and Freeway.
Here's a little behind the scenes look at Alchemist making a beat for his track with Prodigy and Nina Sky. He demonstrates the different ways you can manipulate a chopped sample.
It seems like this should have leaked quite sometime ago, but you know we all dig Ghost and Rae over here, so we had to post this remix to Kilo. Malice is on the track as well.
Last week I brought Patrick and Mike from Akomplice down to B-Real's studio AKA "The Temple" to see Cypress Hill hard at work on their upcoming album. These guys have been busy as hell, recording over 30 songs for for the Cypress album, while simultaneously putting the finishing touches on B-Real's solo album "Smoke and Mirrors", that is due out in February on Duck Down. Sen Dog recently released his first solo album as well called "Diary of a Mad Dog." I produced a track on that called "Biggy Bang" which you can hear on my Myspace page. Also shown in the photos is the homey Young De. De just released his "Homeland Security" mixtape with Ca$his and DJ Whoo Kid, and has been in the lab writing some verses for the Detox!
New York Hardcore legends, Agnostic Front, play the Key Club tomorrow with SF's own First Blood. Agnostic Front have been playing their brand of NYHC for well over two decades, and it's good to see that these guys are still trucking. I first saw them back in 1989 at the Country Club in Reseda, and it was definitely a memorable show to say the least. It was amazing to see a small pack of hardcore kids run a group of over 50 Nazi Skins out of a club with ease. I used to stay up late to try to catch the above video for "Anthem" on "HeadBanger's Ball."Check out the video below, which features an interview with AF from 1986.
Another Jay-Z joint from the upcoming Notorious soundtrack has been uncovered. This one is called "BK Anthem" and features Ms. Lyte as a rock herself, MC Lyte. This one sounds like vintage Jay for sure, Let's hope the movie is half as good as the soundtrack.
I have never been a really big fan of the Air Force 2, although it really isn't too far off from a Dunk. Nike has recently started releasing this shoe in several interesting colorways, and I have to say that the Air Force 2 “Gucci” is pure fire! The Air Force 2 comes in all black, in a mix of different leathers on the upper. Everything from the Swoosh to the sole comes in all black. On the back heel the strap comes in the classic Gucci colors, giving the sneaker an overall premium look. A perfect match for all of your Crooks gear as well. We should be receiving this shoe in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
A traditional compliment to the Casio G-Shock line, the Databank served up a wealth of different functions including calculator and information storage. Enjoying a contemporary update, the watch is seen here in some more modern colorways with other details including a checkboard style keypad. Available in four colorways and releasing this week at stores including Tradition!
For the fourth straight year, and despite front office and player turmoil, the New York Knicks are the NBA's most valuable team. The Knicks are worth $613 million, according to Forbes' latest rankings, an increase of 1 percent over their 2007 value. Throughout the past year, the franchise has made many headlines off the court, ranging from former team president Isiah Thomas being found guilty in a sexual harassment lawsuit to guard Stephon Marbury's feud with management and coach Mike D'Antoni. 2. For the fourth consecutive year, the Los Angeles Lakers are ranked second by Forbes, at $584 million, up from $560 million. 3. Chicago Bulls at $504 million 4. Detroit Pistons at $480 million 5. Cleveland Cavaliers at $477 million.
The biggest change in value belongs to the Portland Trail Blazers, who increased by 21 percent to $307 million. They still rank only 20th out of 30 franchises. Also showing a huge increase are the NBA champion Boston Celtics, up to $447 million from $391 million. The biggest drop in value hit the New Jersey Nets, who fell 13 percent to $295 million, 26th overall. The Nets have had delays in their plans to build and move into a new arena in Brooklyn. Forbes ranked the value of franchises in the other major pro sports earlier this year. The Dallas Cowboys topped the NFL at more than $1.6 billion, the New York Yankees led baseball at over $1.3 billion and the Toronto Maple Leafs led the NHL at $448 million.
Estevan Oriol began his career in the entertainment industry in the late 1980's as a club bouncer at Los Angeles' most popular Hip Hop clubs and infamous Hollywood hangouts. It was there that Estevan first linked up with his Soul Assassin brothers from South Gate, Cypress Hill. Eager to expand his knowledge of the business, Estevan secured a job as tour manager for the rap group, House of Pain, in 1992.
Estevan invoked his unique photography style to catalogue the outrageous experiences he had on tour and began taking pictures of his neighborhood homies and the low rider culture. He had a gift for capturing the raw essence of street life through his photography. Within a short time, he became one of the most sought after photographers of the Urban and Hip Hop community. His work has been featured in magazines world-wide including: COMPLEX, FHM, GQ, Flaunt, Details, Vibe, The Fader, and Rolling Stone.
If there was one photographer that had his finger on the pulse of everything cool, that photographer would be Glen E. Friedman. He captured some of the most iconic images of such skateboarding legends as Tony Alva, Jay Adams, Duane Peters, Stacy Peralta, and other in the late seventies and early eighties. Glen was also there in the early stages of the punk and hardcore scene, documenting the angst, energy, and rebellion of Black Flag, Minor Threat, Suicidal Tendencies, and the Bad Brains. But Glen Didn't stop there. He recognized the parallels between hardcore and hip hop, and he snapped some of the most well known photographs of Public Enemy, Ice T, Run DMC, and many more. Many of these photographs are considered to be the subject's definitive portraits, and they are images that many of you have grown up with.
SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS is pleased to announce its inaugural exhibition with legendary photographer Glen E. Friedman. The most highly anticipated event of Subliminal Projects' season, Friedman's Idealist Propaganda encompasses the artist's first major retrospective to date, featuring a rare selection of Friedman's oeuvre, including twenty-five never before exhibited photographs from his celebrated iconic photos of the pioneering skate, punk and hip-hop subcultures to his equally political and polarized subject matter of the natural world. Idealist Propaganda is a transcendent exhibition and ultimately Friedman's most definitive creative and philosophical statement. It is Subliminal Projects' first solo exhibition of photography by a represented artist.
For Idealist Propaganda, Friedman exhibits his prolific collection in salon style, sampling seminal, never before seen photos from his Fuck You All collection, in addition to previously shown works in his The Idealist solo exhibition of 2004 and Fuck You All international touring exhibition, which include his Fuck You Heroes and Fuck You Too series. On display for the first time ever are images from his Recognize monograph, a dramatic and overt manifesto of aesthetic idealism, compressed and recontextualized through the singular, yet challenging and amorphous nature of clouds. Through these uninhibited photographs, brilliantly captured mostly from within the clouds themselves, Friedman seeks to reintroduce a raw, beautiful, and vital way of seeing the world.
EXHIBITION DATES: December 13th - January 9th
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, December 13, 8-11pm

Just a few days ago we dropped the audio for Jay's newest track "Brooklyn Go Hard." Today we present the video, directed by artist and Graffiti Research Labs founder Evan Roth. “Last week I was contacted to make a video for a new Kanye West produced Jay-Z song for RED & the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. It launched today (World AIDS Day) at red.msn.com. And while I’m happy to be able to help the cause I’m also more than a little bit excited about getting a chance to make something for the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye. I’ve been turning down client requests to use Typographic Illustration for 5 years in hopes that one day the phone would ring and it would be Hova.” Who is gonna be the first brand to turn that into a t-shirt?

USC coach Pete Carroll says the NCAA can have two of his timeouts from Saturday's crosstown rivalry game with UCLA. He just wants his players to wear their home colors. Carroll said on Monday that the Trojans would wear their cardinal red home jerseys on Saturday at the Rose Bowl. That violates an NCAA rule that requires visiting teams to wear white, and the infraction will cost him two timeouts, one per half. The last time the Trojans and the Bruins both wore home jerseys -- the Trojans in red, the Bruins in blue and gold -- was in 1982, when the schools shared the Los Angeles Coliseum.
Just in case you missed the highlights on saturday, here's Chicago Bulls rookie Derrick Rose crossing the shit out of Andre Miller! Super embarrassing!
