RAI KNIGHT FT. OSEEOLA - MR POSTMAN

Here's a new single from the homies at Detroit based FrontStreet Records. "Mr Postman" features 2/3rds of the Loser Crew, a groups featuring both Rai Knight and Oseeola. Oseeola killed the streets with his streetwear single, and I am excited for all of you to hear his contributions to the Tradition mixtape as well.
You can download "Mr Postman" here.

"In our lives, there are times, where what we want to say are just hard to say. Mostly, we find those times when we are deeply in love and fear that are sentiments are not shared, sometimes it is much easier to put it on paper! Soldiers overseas, their spouses, in many cases, can only communicate via letter and with love there are never enough words to say how you truly feel, but to say something better than saying nothing.
In “Mr. Postman” Rai Knight and Oseeola take the opportunity to thank whatever medium which allows itself to be the carrier of “I Love You”; Facebook, Twitter, or mail. The story is simple, sometimes we just all need to know how much we are cared for. Simply, just say it!!"

ASYLM & RUETS - SOURCES OF INSPIRATION AND DAMNATION

Tradition is proud to present:
Asylm | Ruets
Sources of Inspiration and Damnation February 27 2010

Asylm
His work depicts a harmonious coexistence of nature and the urban landscape. He combines his humming bird icons, beautiful muses, Mesoamerican iconography, along with wild style depiction of words and letters over an abstract background with that of his urban graffiti palette (since 1989), so to think he is merely painting pictures, would be a mistake. He is creating spiritual trances.
www.asylm.com

Ruets
Known for his linear formation and contemporary letter structure, Los Angeles based artist Tommy Ruets earned himself a nationwide following due to his stylistically innovative approach. Pushing the boundaries of traditional graffiti, Ruets continues to up the ante combining a distinct configuration of line and proportion into something undeniably original. Equally visually stimulating are his hundreds works on paper and wood, Comprised of bold flat color and fine-line work.

ITS THE REAL: THEY REMINISCE OVER YE

As promised, the guys from ItsTheReal are back. Watch, laugh, tell your friends. Peep The Hundreds hoodie that the guy is wearing around the 1:53 mark.

STREETS OF PLENTY DOCUMENTARY

I posted this interesting documentary on my blog and have been getting a lot of feedback on it so I'm deciding to share it here too. This guy makes a documentary about homelessness in Vancouver and goes above and beyond anything I expected going into watching this. I always seen Vancouver as nice city but this guy really shows everyone the other side. He partakes in a month long mission of trying to survive as a homeless person and video records everything. Here's the description he gives him self via youtube:
An unprecedented look into the underworld of Vancouver's downtown eastside ghetto, this 65 minute documentary follows one man's 30 day experiment of joining the thousands of homeless, ill, and addicted, who survive the streets of Vancouver's cold, wet December. He starts off with nothing but a pair of underwear. Where he ends up is a place he never knew existed, even though its a place he passed by every day. This is the perfect film for anyone who wants to see first hand what life is like on Vancouver's streets, but doesn't want to risk murder from gang violence, contracting a fatal or chronic disease, or a life-long addiction to crack or heroin.

Check out the rest of it here.

BUMPIN IN THE SHOP

So over on my little ol' blog, I started this "Bumpin In The Shop" thing where I post up the mixtape in rotation for the day down here at the Ventura shop. Bumpin in the shop today is L.E's Anti-Parachute Theory. While I was driving through the city, "Polo On My Body" came on my iPod while it was on shuffle. So posting up the mixtape was just a good idea. I remember listening to it earlier when I was studying in the library thinking to myself that this is some dope stuff. He got Von Pea, who was featured on the first edition of B.I.T.S., to help him on "She/Her", which is another highlight on the tape. The whole thing is a great piece of work featuring production by J. Rawls, DJ Rhettmatic, Blueprint and more, plus it's free so why not check the kid out. Click the album cover or here to download.

VIDEO: YOUNG DE AT LEADERS OF THE NEW COOL

Here's some footage of Young De at the Leaders of the New Cool event last week in Los Angeles courtesy of Eazee. Look for me creeping in the video as well.

"Here's footage of my boy Young De of Audio Hustlaz/Soul Assassins getting it in at the Leaders of the New Cool stop in Los Angeles that went down on January 26th 2010 at Echoplex. He chops it up with Eazee Street before and after his performance. I included a clip of one of his acapellas (bars) and a bit of his song with Xzibit. Drew of Tradition makes a cameo as well."

CLIPPERS DUNLEAVY OUT AS HEAD COACH

The Los Angeles Clippers have made a coaching change with just 32 games left in the season, naming Kim Hughes as their new interim coach today after Mike Dunleavy relinquished his bench duties. Dunleavy will retain the title of Clippers general manager in what the team has described as a decision that was "reached mutually" earlier today during a meeting attended by club president Andy Roeser, Dunleavy and assistant general manager Neil Olshey. Although Dunleavy has been under pressure at various points during the past few months despite the season-long absence of No. 1 overall pick Blake Griffin (ESPN.com reported in November that Clippers owner Donald Sterling contemplated making a change after an 0-4 start) one source close to the situation insisted that it was Dunleavy's "decision to step down."

Said Dunleavy in a team statement: "I've had several conversations with our owner [Donald T. Sterling] concerning what we think is best for the team overall. We have discussed the possibility of my concentrating only on basketball operations. That option has always been available to me. "I've come to the conclusion that this is the ideal time for me to direct my efforts toward the many personnel opportunities that lie before us, such as the trade market, the draft and the free-agent process. We fully expect to be active and productive on all those fronts."

It has been widely assumed in NBA coaching circles that Dunleavy, given Sterling's famed aversion to paying coaches who no longer work for the Clippers, was virtually insulated from being fired because his contract has one more season to go after this season at $5 million.

Gangsta Gibbs rocks over one of my favorite instrumentals of all time "'93 'til Infinity" for this video for YRB TV.
